Red Hollow Lake Overview

Location:
Located about 45 miles NW of downtown Ft. Worth, Red Hollow Lake is nestled in the heart of the cutting horse capital of the world, an area renowned for its association with the cutting horse industry. However, anglers come here not for horses but for big bass!

Lake Features:
  • Size: 28 acres
  • Electrofishing Survey: The lake is home to some exceptionally large bass. Notable catches from the electrofishing survey included a 9.8 lb bass, an 8.3 lb bass, and several others over 5 lbs. These big bass are above average weight, which is a strong indicator of a healthy forage base in the lake.
  • Lake Structure:
    • The lake is divided into two sections:
      • The main lake (18 acres), which has clear water and is where you will launch your boat.
      • The canal (6-8 feet deep and about 12-18 feet wide) connects the two sections and offers access to the 12-acre side of the lake, which tends to have more habitat and more turbid (less clear) water.
  • Fishing Opportunities: The lake is stocked with bass and other species, making it a prime spot for anglers looking to catch quality bass. The water clarity and habitat diversity offer great fishing conditions, especially for big bass.
Boating Access:
  • There is no formal boat launch, but members have been able to launch smaller boats (up to 16 feet) with no issues. Larger fiberglass boats are not recommended due to potential launching difficulties.
  • Launch Area: Members are advised to launch their boat between two stakes just beyond the pier.
  • Boat Size: Launching a 16-foot or smaller aluminum boat is ideal for this lake, as larger boats may struggle with the shallow and narrow launch area.
Harvesting Guidelines:
  • Mandatory Harvest: Remove all bass 14 inches and under during your outing. This is a critical part of maintaining the lake's bass population.
  • Fish Disposal: Please do not dispose of harvested fish on the property. Members must take all harvested fish with them.
  • Reporting: After your trip, please report the total number of each species removed through the online reservation system. This helps the management team track the lake’s fish populations and ensure a balanced ecosystem.

  • Minimum Reservation: A 2 adult minimum is required for booking a trip at Red Hollow Lake.
  • Full Day Minimum: There is a full day minimum for reservations—no half-day pricing. This ensures that members have enough time to fully enjoy the lake’s fishing opportunities.
